It is always said that “if you eat healthily you stay healthy” It can be a challenge to encourage children to eat vegetables and fruits every day. TV commercials and Ads also make an impact in the minds of children towards junk food. Early childhood is a very important time to determine healthy consumption patterns. A diet is vital to healthy consumption habits as a result of it provide kids with the nutrients they have to grow. The benefits of healthy eating in early childhood will help children to have a healthy lifestyle.

I try and make my children adopt healthy intake habits from a young age. I believe it will have a positive influence on kid’s dietary habits later in life. Over the years, researchers have found proof that intake behaviors and meal habits in infancy have a sway on children’s food preferences and intake patterns in adulthood. This doesn’t mean that overweight kids will proceed to become overweight as adults also. However many researchers counsel say that weight patterns of youngsters are an indicator of health problems in adulthood. Additionally, research also says that my weight patterns would impact my child weight patterns as well which means if parents are overweight there are high chances of kids to also have the same weight pattern.

What can be the possible consequences of an unhealthy diet for a child?

  • Lack of proteins, vitamins, nutrients which can further lead to malnutrition.
  • Unhealthy eating or eating junk will lead to obesity.

Encouraging youngsters to eat a nutrient, a diet too and so on is very important for a variety of reasons. Ensuring proper vitamins and minerals in their diet can facilitate them grow and develop optimally. They’re conjointly a lot of probably to be energized and actuated, supporting their ability. Educating them on healthy consumption throughout childhood will facilitate them create healthier selections as they become adults.

Despite the plain edges, we tend to recognize that there will be challenges once it involves healthy consumption for teenagers. I being a working mother also find it difficult to inculcate such eating habits in my child because it needs a lot of time.

Effects of nutrition on child development

Food is a supplement that gives body energy and when right nutrients are provided to your body then that helps the child to be healthy. Healthy nutrients include proteins, carbohydrates, fats, and vitamins. All of these, when provided in right quantity to the body, will help children to grow into a healthy adult. When right nutrients are provided to a child then it helps them to be the energetic whole day. It would help them to develop healthy eating habits when they grow up as adults as well.

It would prevent diseases such as depression, bipolar disorder, cholesterol and many other diseases could be prevented by healthy supplements to the body.

For any child to develop into a proper adult and be the active whole day it is very important they have the correct amount of nutrients.

What can be considered as nutrient food for a Childs intake?

  • All types of fruits and vegetable, legumes/ beans.
  • All types of grains which are whole grain and high fiber cereal variety content which include cereals, rice, pasta, noodles, oats, and barley.
  • Protein content such as egg, fish, tofu, nuts, meat, and seeds.
  • Calcium content included milk, yogurt, cheese, but low-fat content milk is not suitable for children below 2 years.
  • The important thing to remember is that to drink plenty amount of water.

It is very important that the intake of fat should be healthy fat as it provides the fat that is needed for a body rather than having fat which is not healthy for the body that may further lead to cholesterol in the body.

“Discretionary choices” which means junk food that could be biscuits, cookies, chocolates, cakes, meat pies, processed food, burger and pastries etc contains a high amount of saturated fat, added sugar, preservatives and added salts which should be consumed sometimes that in small quantities.

Young children (below 3 years) can choke in the throat when hard food is consumed so that should be graded or cooked and bones should be removed from meat for easy consumption.

Importance of healthy food for students

Student’s life is a process of learning where they have to remember many things. My daughter who’s just 10 years old comes up with a lot list of assignments, many class test, and projects. For doing all such thing she needs to have a lot of energy. For this need she would essential nutrients, food rich in fiber, and other essentials. Nutritionists recommend rainbow eating which I have tried to inculcate in my daughter’s diet which the plate of my child includes all colors in form of vegetables, grains beans and so on.  As the form of rainbow food has its own significance as because these different forms help to boost the immune system, healthy colon, healthy heart, lower cholesterol, supports eyesight, prevents cancer, decreases blood pressure, healthy urinary system, helps cell renewal, strong bones and improve digestion.

Here is the description of what rainbow food is:

  • Red food includes Sliced strawberries, cherries, apple slices with all-natural paste or almond butter, raspberries, watermelon slices, cooked sweet potato slices with cinnamon, fruit crush, tomato slices with salt and pepper, bell peppers slices.
  • Green food includes Sugar snap peas, kiwi, celery sticks with paste, winter melon slices, avocado slices with salt, inexperienced grapes, cucumber dish with tomato and sauce, peas, zucchini slices, broccoli, kale or spinach salads, stir lyonnaise Bok Choy.

This pattern of intake for a child provides essential supplements that are needed for a student for a healthy tomorrow.

Why is nutrition important for growth and development?

Unhealthy eating habits have contributed to the obesity epidemic in the United States: about one-third of U.S. adults (33.8%) are obese and approximately 17% (or 12.5 million) of children and adolescents aged 2—19 years are obese.1 Even for people at a healthy weight, a poor diet is associated with major health risks that can cause illness and even death. These include heart disease, hypertension (high blood pressure), type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis, and certain types of cancer. By making smart food choices, you can help protect yourself from these health problems.

The risk factors for adult chronic diseases, like hypertension and type 2 diabetes, are increasingly seen in younger ages, often as a result of unhealthy eating habits and increased weight gain. Dietary habits established in childhood often carry into adulthood, so teaching children how to eat healthy at a young age will help them stay healthy throughout their life.

The link between good nutrition and healthy weight reduced chronic disease risk, and overall health is too important to ignore. By taking steps to eat healthily, I’ll be on your way to getting the nutrients for my child to stay healthy, active, and strong. As with physical activity, making small changes in the diet can go a long way, and it’s easier than you think!

Early age of childhood, right from the child is born the first 3years of the baby is like the many essential supplements go into the body of the child for example when the baby is small mother’s milk is the most essential component because that strengthens the baby a lot as compared to the bottle milk which is fed because artificial substance cannot provide such benefits that a natural mother’s milk can provide to a baby. Nutrition starts from there itself because when a child is growing there are lots of processes involved in it. Its height, teething & bones and many other things which means at that time the best nutrients are to be supplied to the baby as the age increases the child should also grow accordingly without any deficiencies.

In today’s society where parents do not have time for their child where children are bought up in crèches. They are not provided with essential supplements. It is very important that at that age of the child the food intake should be properly taken care of because; if you see the most pediatric cases mostly evolve around.

A child of 5 years having eyesight at that small age is it essential that a child should suffer that problem that could furthermore increase during the adulthood and further lose her eyesight, which is completely not acceptable for a child to suffer from such things.

Cases where the child is suffering from obesity, I had seen a child of 12 years who was suffering from obesity, not because of excess eating but because of eating junk, bit of hereditary contribution and parents consider it to be hereditary issue which is essential not because it could prevent healthy eating is inculcated in their diet.

Did you ever imagine a 15 years child suffering from depression where is the society leading to with young children suffering from such diseases? Such problems for a child are not always because they had seen some problem or something happened which led to such situation. It can be also because the body didn’t proper supplement that could protect her from such problems or disorders. If they would have inculcated such food habits then may his/her resistance power could have been better and the ways to take or approach things would have been different.

We have always seen people being angry, irritated or upset and sometimes when you ask the reason as to what happened is that could be the food they didn’t like or the food was not tasty or just that the person is hungry. You can just imagine what thing just a word called “food” could lead to. An individual basic necessity includes water, food, and shelter.

Food builds the base for many things whether it growth, prevention of diseases, healthy life balance, disorder prevention and prevention of stress. That makes it very important whether it is a child or a well-grown adult it is very much essential that food is provided in right supplements and in the right quantity.

Considering all such factors we earn for our livelihood and food is our basic necessity when provide properly and most important is to have a healthy food when inculcated in a child in it early they get habituated to eat healthy by which a pattern is set in the lifestyle of the child so when the child grows into an adult also these habits are not lost. As an adult, their choices would tend towards choosing healthy food rather than choosing junk food. This would reduce the chances of diseases, disorder and in turn leading towards a healthy lifestyle.

The above reason for a healthy eating in childhood would make a lot of difference as “if you eat healthily you stay healthy” It is not always necessary that healthy food is tasty but that could prevent from many unhealthy things that can happen to you. Good things do not in a beautiful package of flowers. If you want goods thing then you to strive hard at the same time for a healthy life you need have a healthy nutrition.
